P-Day Perfection!

Conor, Fionn, and I just returned home from our annual President's Day weekend trip with my University of Virginia Grad School Crew. It was fantastic as always. Great friends, delicious food, and incredible scenery. Here is a pic of the Grad School Girls, circa 2011.

For this year's P-Day Weekend, we traveled to Cambridge, Maryland which was just a hop, skip and a jump from DC (well, a 90-mile hop/skip/jump, that is). The house was located right on the water as you can see from the above gorgeous sunset picture which was snapped by my wonderful hubby upon our arrival last Friday. This next pic shows the gargantuan house where we spent the long weekend. It also shows the first of many happy hour drinks I enjoyed over the weekend whilst holding a baby (not necessarily always mine).

In the past year since our last P-Day weekend, we have added FOUR new babies to the group for a grand total of -- wait for it -- 21 people! As a result, we now have a motley crew of twelve adults and nine children. Yes, we are scarily close to being outnumbered by the little Munchkins. This next picture shows our group of P-Day Littles, arranged oh-so-comfortably on the couch.

Those of you with basic math abilities and keen observation skills might notice that there are only 8 children pictured. Yes, sadly, we are missing Miss Caroline Miller from the photo. Try as we might, it simply proved too difficult to get all 9 kids on the couch at the same time. We did our best, what can we say?

To tell you the truth, we almost had only 7 children in the picture because our Fionny was definitely none-so-thrilled about the paparazzi moment we had going on that night. And, in true Fionny fashion, he made sure that we were aware of his displeasure. Yes, Fionn can be accused of many things, but hiding his feelings is not one of them. Check out this next pic. Whew, he is really starting to lose it!

Don't worry! I was quick to grab him as soon as the last picture was snapped. Those are my arms on the left there in the next picture. Rescue Mission Complete!

It's funny to think that in a few short years, Fionny will be a Big Kid like Amelia, Caroline, and Abby who had their first sleepover in their very own room during this year's P-Day weekend. All the kiddos are growing up so fast. Miss Caroline Miller even lost her very first tooth over the weekend and was promptly visited by the Tooth Fairy (whose name is Gloria, by the way) that night. Here she is in all of her gap-toothed glory.

It was a fantastic weekend, and we miss our special friends already. However, it's always good to get home. Ah, home sweet home.

No, I did not accidentally post a picture from a condemned building. That is our house, folks. We are currently in the midst of a huge kitchen renovation project which began last Friday. The demolition part of the project was completed over the weekend while we were away which was fantastic timing. However, arriving home to the shrapnel that is now our home was....a bit challenging. Especially in light of the fact that Fionn is now battling a terrible hacking cough. But that, dear friends, is fodder for my next post. Until then...

  1. Casey,
I had forgotten about the kitchen reno... I'm sure you'll have many days where you mutter and shout all sorts of things into the abyss, but what a difference losing that wall makes - even in the early stages. I can't wait to hear all about it and see the final results!!!
