Well, howdy there, strangers!
Gosh, I am so sorry that it has been forever and a day since I have updated this blog. As you might remember from my previous post, we have been knee-deep in a huge kitchen renovation project since mid-February. Between the sheet of dust covering our house at all times, the constant traffic of workmen coming in and out of the kitchen, and the complete lack of a kitchen sink, oven, dishwasher...well, let's just say that it's been a little hard to focus. To be honest, as the mother of an infant, it's really been more about surviving every day without pulling my hair out or losing my marbles entirely. As a result, blogging took a back seat in the Priority Car for the past month or so. Also, we had zero pics of Fionny to share from the past month. Yep, zilch. Yeah, as it turns out, it's not so much fun to take pictures of your child when the backdrop is a nasty, dust-covered house. Go figure.
But enough about the tough stuff and on to happier topics. The kitchen is finally...finally...FINISHED! Completely finished. Aaah. Lemme tell you, it is the best feeling ever to wash a dish in the kitchen sink again. Nope, scratch that. It is the best feeling ever to NOT wash a dish but instead to put it into our new dishwasher! Ha.
Okay, so first things first. Here is a before and after of the kitchen for those of you who haven't been to our house in awhile.
BEFORE: Sad, depressing, ugly, terrible. Ick.
AFTER: Happiness, light, beauty, LOVE IT!
As if you can't tell, Conor and I are so pleased with the final product of the kitchen project, and we have nothing but glowing things to say about our contractors. Although it was a long, difficult process at times, it was worth every second of disruption and inconvenience.
Of course, no one is more pleased to have the house back in order than our Fionny. Although his playroom is pretty great, it has definitely lost its luster for our little guy over the past 5 weeks as we have been sequestered there for much of each day. Fionn has been just itching to explore other parts of the house again, especially this new and interesting room about which Mom and Dad have been just raving. Here's some pics of the kiddo checkin' out his new digs.
Fionny, by the way, has been taking on a new project of his own over the past month. He is walking! Well, okay, not all the time. But about half of the time these days. Put it this way: he can definitely get from one side of the room to the other on two feet, but he often still chooses to crawl. We'll work on getting some videos of him walking uploaded onto the blog at some point.
I have to retire to bed soon, but I will leave you with a few pics from St. Patrick's Day. We didn't do much, but we did enjoy some brews in our backyard to celebrate the day. And Fionn had his first backyard experience since the weather was finally nice and spring-like. I had every intention of writing a St. Patty's Day blog post, and it simply never happened. So better late than never...SLAINTE!
So glad to see you all up and running again (both with the blog and the kitchen)!! The kitchen looks amazing. Congrats! Can't wait for the video/pics of those walking feet!
