Beach Baby Revisited

Last Friday we embarked on yet another trip with our little guy. Our destination this time? None other than Portsmouth, Virginia where two of my girlfriends live with their families. We were joined by three more girlfriends from the same group and THEIR families. We totaled 12 adults and 7 children. And we are growing all the time!

This group, by the way, has been dubbed the President's Day Weekend Crew (PDWC) since we always get together at least once a year on that holiday weekend. This year we decided that once a year was simply not enough. We needed to have a summertime get together as well!

This trip was special in many ways. First, it is always so wonderful to get together with the PDWC. Because we are spread out over the states of Virginia, Maryland, and DC, we are rarely able to gather in one place. So it is always ultra-exciting when the stars align (and calendars cooperate), allowing us to spend some time together. We always have a fabulous time.

It was also the first time that many of the PDWC had met our Fionny. It was so much fun to introduce our boy to this very special group. Big girls Caroline Miller and Amelia Lovelace were so great with Fionn.

Last weekend also marked the first play date between Fionn and his future best bud, William Van Orman. Sweet William was born a mere three weeks before Fionny! He is adorable and seriously has the cutest cheeks EVER!

Sarah and I can't wait to watch William and Fionn grow up together.

Conor and I were also very pleased that our boy did relatively well on the beach. He handled the surf and sand much better than in Outer Banks a few weeks ago. I think the low 80s temps this go 'round helped a bit. Anyway, we were excited to be able to spend hours at the beach with our friends and their children instead of rushing back inside after 20 minutes. All in all, it was a wonderful time. Here are some beach scenes we captured throughout the day.

This next photo is a fave of mine and Conor's. Notice the way that little Jay Miller is getting checked out by the cute little girls on the beach. He got a second look from one of the little girls. Score, Jay!

In addition to simply enjoying each others' company, we had a LOT to celebrate during this particular get-together. Anne and Heather are both pregnant, due in November. This picture captures Heather and I trying to feel the kicks of Teensy Zalubowski.

So, of course, we had a whole new lot of onesies to design and paint for Baby Boy Bruskin and Teensy Zalubowski.

We were also able to celebrate the birthdays of Nola Miller and Matt Zalubowski who were both born on the exact same day 33 years ago. Happy birthday, guys!

After a wonderful weekend, we are now blissfully home for a 9 whole days until Fionn and I leave for Mississippi next Wednesday. Although we already miss our special friends, it is wonderful to be home.
