You gotta love Halloween. When else is it appropriate to dress your 5-month-old in a spandex bell-bottomed body suit with faux sequins?

Truly, Dex was a wonderful sport. The Elvis costume was obviously for the amusement of Conor and myself -- solely and completely. And yet darling Dex patiently let us style his hair and squeeze him into the white pantsuit. No fussing, no complaining. What a trooper. Or should I say...a hunka hunka burnin' love?

My dear friend, Corrie Mack, also joined us that night which was just the icing on the cake. She held Dex the entire time we were trick-or-treating so we were able to concentrate on our little monster. And, oh, Fionn was having the time of his life, folks. All I remember is a flash of bright blue as our excited son ran from one house to another yelling, "Trick or Treat! Halloween! Tank you!" or some derivation of this.
However, the only thing Fionny loved more than trick-or-treating himself was handing out the candy once we got back home. He was just in hog heaven, digging his little hand into the candy bowl and bestowing a treat (or eight) upon each and every person who graced our porch. Pure joy.
Sometimes parenting is for the birds, but on Halloween...on Halloween, it's pretty much the best game in town.
Until next time...
