V.I.P.s : Very Important Playdates

This week our Fionny met a whole bunch of very special friends. It was a big week of socializing for the little guy. I feel like it's cheating to call these meetings "playdates" since Fionn doesn't do much "playing" at this point. In all honestly, he pretty much just sits there like a little sack of beans. But what else can you really expect from a 6 week old?

On Monday we were visited by the Scott family, including handsome 5.5 month old Rhett who will surely be a future best bud of Fionn if he plays his cards right. I can just picture the two little guys running around the house and getting into trouble one day. Can't you?

On Friday we had the pleasure of hanging out with Mary Jacklyn Sivulich and her darling little 3 month old daughter, Evie. Evie is a dream baby. You know the type. Smiling, happy most of the time, and sleeps TEN HOURS A NIGHT! Yeah, if Mary Jacklyn wasn't such a good friend...I'd have given them the boot after this little nugget of information was divulged. Just kidding, MJ. Sort of.

Finally, Saturday brought a visit from Mommy's dear, dear friend, Corrie Westbrook, who was in town for the weekend. It was so special to introduce Corrie to Fionn, and I'm so glad that she was able to meet him while he was still relatively a newborn. Fionn slept peacefully in Corrie's arms for hours during her visit. He seemed to know she was someone pretty special.

At 6 weeks old, Fionn is continuing to grow in leaps and bounds. At his doctor's appointment last Wednesday, he tipped the scales at 11 pounds, 4 ounces. This means that our little dude has gained nearly 4 pounds since leaving the hospital (he lost 5 ounces in the hospital). He is now in the 69th percentile for weight and the 66th percentile for height. And his noggin is in the 74th percentile -- check out the big brain on Fionn!

Fionn's acid reflux seems to be improving with the medication, although he despises the taste of it and has learned how to spit it right back out at us if we don't watch it. Meanwhile, Fionn's Mommy is continuing to grumble her way through a dairy and soy free diet. It's not easy, I am telling you! But, as my dear friend Sarah reminded me, it's not exactly bad for the post-partum body to give up things such as ice cream and baked goods. True, but...oh, it is SO not fun, especially during this hot summer (otherwise known as Perfect Ice Cream Eating Weather). Ah, the sacrifices we make for our kids, right? (Picture me with my hand draped dramatically across my forehead.) Until next time...

  1. Gelato is neither dairy nor soy and if you find a good brand will take the place of ice cream!!
