There's No Place Like Home

After 4 days in the hospital, we were delighted to finally get the go-ahead to take Baby Fionn home. We carefully eased Fionn into his car seat, started the car, and began our 30 minute journey home. Our trip was punctuated by Conor calling out, "Baby's first speed bump!" or "Baby's first stoplight!" And my favorite, "Baby's first experience driving past the projects!"

Once home, we were greeted by these adorable homemade cards, courtesy of our neighbor, Isabella Wirth. There was also a card inside the kitchen for Baby Fionn which proclaimed, "Welcome to America!"



Baby's first week home has been wonderful, for the most part. We are just delighting in every aspect of our baby boy, and we are slowly (very slowly) figuring out how he operates. Fionn, to his credit, has been trying to school us on his likes and dislikes. For instance, he likes to snuggle close on our chests after nursing. He also likes his changing table because he enjoys gazing out the window (and I think he likes the feeling of the cool wipes on his bum too!). On the other hand, Fionn does not enjoy putting on cute yet somewhat restrictive little outfits. He prefers to kick it old school in just a little long-sleeved shirt and his diaper.



Fionn also had his first home visitors in the form of Heather and Abby Bruskin, as well as Jon Groteboer and Jen Carrier. Both sets of visitors also brought food for Mommy and Daddy which was much appreciated! Thanks, guys!







As some of you might have noticed, my husband has developed quite a penchant for photography since the birth of our son (which corresponded with the wonderful gift of a fancy camera, courtesy of my talented photog Dad). As a result, we have loads of amazing pics of our beloved son and anyone else who decides to stumble into the viewfinder on Conor's camera.
