Fionn Hearts Grandparents

Last weekend Fionn had two more extra-special visitors -- his grandfather and namesake, Jimmy, and his step-grandmother, Julie! It was wonderful to spend some quality time with Dad and Julie, and it was especially nice for Conor and myself to get a little break from our 24-7 Fionn duty. Not that we don't love you, kid, but absence does make the heart grow fonder when it comes to a 4-week old. We have found this to be true.

With Fionn in good hands, Conor and I both took a couple of hours "off" on Saturday afternoon so that I could attend a bridal shower for our good friend, Jen, and Conor could grab a quick workout. Turns out that going to the gym is a wee bit more difficult as new parents, so that was wonderful for Conor.

We also took Fionn out to dinner with the grandparents for the first time, and he was on fantastic behavior (in other words, he slept through the whole thing!). It definitely gave us confidence that we can get out and about with him a little more and not worry about getting tossed out on the sidewalk due to his howling or other such antics. This is Fionn sleeping peacefully in his car seat while we enjoyed our meal at the table next to him.

In other Fionn news, we are sad to report that we had our first sick visit at the doctor's office this week. It seems that our little man has acid reflux. Poor kiddo. He has been a big spit-upper from his first week of life, but recently it has gotten a little too projectile and plentiful to ignore. So we broke down and called the doctor who agreed that he seems to have all the classic reflux symptoms. She gave us some medication for our little guy, and he seems to be feeling a little better already.

Our doctor also told me that I might have a role in this whole reflux thing since I am breastfeeding Fionn. It's possible that he is unable to digest the huge amounts of dairy that I consume on a daily basis. So she wants me to eliminate dairy and soy to see if this helps with the reflux. Therefore I, Casey Crosthwait Crimmins, lover of all things ice cream, yogurt, and baked good...am officially on the wagon as far as dairy goes. It is a tragic state of affairs, but I'll do anything for my little dude.

Speaking of little dudes, we want to give a shout-out to Fionn's darling cousin, Gracie, who is recovering from surgery this week. She is such a little trooper, and we are all thinking of her constantly! Get well soon, Gracie! Fionn can't wait to play with you in August!!
