This past weekend Conor and I had a major case of deja vu. And it wasn't just our imagination either. Let me explain.
Three years ago nearly to the day, Conor and I embarked on a Baby Moon to Washington, Virginia. We stayed at a little B&B, enjoyed a delicious meal at the Inn at Little Washington, and explored the (very limited) sights around the quaint little town of Washington. It was marvelous. We loved every minute of it.
We liked it so much, in fact, that we decided to repeat the entire experience this past weekend for our Baby #2 Moon. Okay, okay, truth be told, we tried to be more creative this time around. But by the time we nailed down a date and attempted to find a place to visit, everywhere else was pretty much booked.
So it was back to Washington we went. Although it might sound a little "been there, done that", there was actually something very special about visiting the same place where we went three years ago when Fionn was just a twinkle in our eyes. It was really fun to re-experience so many of the same things as last time and reminisce about how many things have changed in our lives since our previous visit. And it was even more fun to think about how much things are about to change in the coming months.
In terms of Washington, Virginia, however, there are definitely things that haven't changed. For instance, it continues to be a beautiful, slow-moving pastoral paradise. Check out the views from the Adirondack chairs next to our B&B (which is called the Foster Harris house for those of you who might be interested in planning a visit).
Not too shabby, right? Also, Stella, the friendly golden retriever at the B&B, was just as lovable as she was three years ago. And she still loves to play ball, much to Conor's delight.
We also found that the Inn at Little Washington was just as charming and just as delicious. Unfortunately, this go 'round, there were no celebrities dining in our midst. That was kinda a bummer. I mean, seriously, where are Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds when you need 'em? Regardless, the meal was wonderful, and we thoroughly enjoyed every morsel of it. Here's a picture of Conor and me before we stuffed ourselves with an amazing four-course meal.
Our eating tour continued the following morning when our B&B served us a four-course gourmet breakfast which included homeade scones. Yum! We followed our hearty breakfast up with a relatively light lunch at an adorable restaurant in a neighboring town. Of course, we couldn't pass up the homeade ice cream afterwards either.
Oh, what will I do when I can no longer claim to be eating for two?
Speaking of two...You might be wondering where we stashed our favorite two-year-old during our glorious night away. Well, never fear. Our little Fionny was having the time of his life with our incredible neighbors. You don't believe me? Well, don't take my word for it. Check out the pictures that our neighbors, the Wirths, texted to us during our time away.

| Apparently, Fionn followed Josh around like a shadow the whole time. |
Fionn, for his part, seemed a little disappointed that we were back when he awoke from his nap. I guess we seem pretty boring after spending a delightful night with a family of five and their two dogs. Well, we'll have to do our part to keep things interesting for our boy in the future, I guess. Perhaps a baby brother will do the trick. We'll see...

So nice you were able to get away and enjoy some peaceful R&R before the energy levels spike at Casa Crimmins.
ReplyDeleteLove having good neighbors. They really are a treasure!
