Baby, It's (Still) Cold Outside

Just as the snow was beginning to melt in DC, Conor and I boarded a plane to Minneapolis, Minnesota to spend the Christmas holiday with his family. Well, as luck would have it, Minnesota was scheduled to receive 2 feet of its own wintry white goodness…just in time for our arrival. Seems that we were destined to have a White Christmas after all. Unfortunately, we were also destined to have flight cancellations and delays…which was not nearly so dreamy. We are actually still in the airport as I type this, clutching our recently reissued tickets, and hoping against hope that our flight back to DC leaves as scheduled in an hour or so. [Update to post: We made it home safely!]

Despite the cold and the icy roads, we had a wonderful Christmas with the Crimmins Clan. There was an abundance of delicious food (especially Shannon’s sugar cookies!), a little rowdy board game action, and the lovely sound of laughter and coos from a growing number of Crimmins Littles. Since we have no cute baby of our own to display at the moment, we thought we’d poach a few pictures of other people’s children for your viewing pleasure.

Besides serving as Baby C’s first Christmas (albeit with an obscured viewpoint to the festivities), the Minnesota trip also included another big first: Baby's C's first baby shower! The Crimmins women were kind enough to put together a wonderful shower for Conor and myself, including a make-your-own sundae bar and a very generous gift card to Babies R Us. And, as is tradition with the impending birth of any new Crimmins Little, we also received a children’s book from every person in attendance (and a few who couldn’t be there – thanks, Becky, George, and Georgie!). We now have a fantastic start to our bookshelf for the nursery. We can’t wait to read to Baby C – thank you all so much!
